GoLive 6.0 for Windows Not Rated Our last encounter with Adobe GoLive was at version 4. Without knowing if they have fixed the productivity problem with the interface (every single change in a function box required a return, an extremely poor program coding practice in a professional layout editor), we have to reserve judgement. It was very handy at many things, and in a few cases offered advantages over Dreamweaver, the king of WYSIWYG web design packages. One feature that it has that I want in Dreamweaver is the ability to block certain directories or files from being updated on the local machine or the remote server. But the pretty interface made accomplishing tasks slow, difficult and repetive. Nevertheless, it is a popular item and we do support it's ftp site import and updating features. Still, not considered a true professional's tool (by professionals) though, and comes with a hefty price tag. Comes with GoLive 6 Workgroup Server for collaborative team design and management. Requires a 400MHz Pentium II or better processor (the included GoLive 6 Web Workgroup Server requires a 600 MHz Pentium III or better) running Windows 98/2000/Me/xp (the included GoLive 6 Web Workgroup Server requires Windows 2000 or xp) and at least 96 MB RAM (128 MB or more strongly recomended). Photoshop still maintains the photo, print and image effects lead, and can be easily updated with a third party plug-in for exporting true PNG format 8, 24 and 32 bit files. But Photoshop used to be the king of all raster image programs. This is no longer the case.
